Abacus — hard-stone sphere rings

Year
2023
Materials
Yellow gold; spheres of amethyst, malachite, onyx, rose quartz, carnelian, kyanite

An open yellow-gold mount, shaped like a stirrup, holds a polished hard-stone sphere between its two arms — like the bead of an abacus on its rod, which gives the line its name.

The shank is a ribbon of polished gold with no bezel and no claws: the stone is held by the tension of the mount alone. Each sphere is cut and polished individually — amethyst, malachite, onyx, rose quartz, carnelian, kyanite — and changes the character of the ring while the form stays the same.

The line was born in the family workshop in Bagnacavallo; every ring is hand-finished and checked in the gemmological laboratory before delivery.
